Uses of Levonorgestrel 

MI-72 tablet is an emergency contraceptive medication used for avoiding pregnancy in case of unprotective intercourse or accidental failure of contraceptives. It works better only if it will be consumed within 72 hours of unprotective intercourse.

Dosage and strength

MI-72 tablet contains Levonorgestrel 1.5 mg, it should be taken once within 72 hours of unprotective intercourse.

Contraindication
MI-72 tablet is contraindicated in the existing pregnancy conditions.

Warning and Precautions
  • MI-72 tablet will better work only if it is consumed within 72 hours, if it is consumed after 72 hours it may not prevent pregnancy.
  • Do not use MI-72 tablet if you are already allergic to the active ingredient levonorgestrel or any other ingredients of finished products.
  • The dose should not be doubled.
  • It should not be your routine contraception option as it has side effects also.
Side effects

Disturbed menstrual cycle, headache, nausea, abdominal pain, fatigue, dizziness.

Drug interaction

There are many drugs than can decrease the efficacy of MI-72 tablet if they are consumed together, these drugs are topiramate, rifampin, barbiturates, carbamazepine, phenytoin, oxcarbazepine.

Pregnancy and breast feeding

According to studies levonorgestrel has negligible effect on foetus. But it should be avoided during pregnancy conditions.
It also has no side effects on infants who is on breast feeding.

Overdose

Data regarding overdose of MI-72 tablet is not available but it may cause some common side effects.
